Signature Sound Studios is a San Diego video and audio production studio that has operated continuously under the same ownership since 1989. Located at 5040 Ruffner Street in Kearny Mesa, the studio began as a music recording facility and expanded into video podcasting, audiobook production, voice-over, ADR, and on-location production over its 37-year history. Notable work includes audiobooks for Audible and Penguin Random House, voice-over and ADR for Pixar and Nickelodeon, music recording for U2, Alicia Keys, Blink-182, Stone Temple Pilots, T-Pain, and Jacob Collier, and branded content for Adobe, WHOOP, and the Tony Hawk Foundation. 1989
Doors open on Ruffner Street in San Diego as a dedicated music recording studio. Same ownership begins.
1995
First gold-record music project recorded. Studio expands acoustic treatment and microphone collection.
2002
Voice-over and ADR work for film and TV begins. Dedicated voice booth added.
2008
Audible partnership begins. Audiobook studio expanded for full-length narration.
2014
Multi-camera video production added for podcasts and branded content. Studio A built out.
2024
On-location production launches. Video capacity expanded to three 4K Sony cameras across all sets.
2026
Opening the rooms directly to creators and brand teams — same standard, hourly access.
